On the road to Lavender Fields

July is THE mounth to see lavender, don't miss it !

The little village of Ferrassières opened the beginning of the season of the lavender last Sunday with an attractive day. The opportunity to admire the entertainment of fields in flowers, to gather pollen like a bee and go nuts with the wonderful scent around !

From Toulon the closest fields of lavender are around Apt, at the entry of Luberon, going up to Sault  via Saint Christol sur Albion. It is a sinuous secondary road very appreciated by the motorcyclists ! On the road you will perceive the Provençal Colorado of Rustrel (and you will be tempt to return another day to see this wonderful place !).

You should plain 3 hours driving to arrive at Ferrassières, so leave early to arrive in the middle of the morning and walk through the fields without being crushed by the sun ! Think about taking your picnic to eat in the middle of the fields and do not worry about bees, they are too much busy with gathering nectar to be interested in your sandwich ! Take advantage of the afternoon to visit a distillery and understand all the work that represents this network.

I'm sure you'll have an excellent day !

You will find more information on this map where I gathered for you the particularly interesting places closest to Toulon.
